The Extended Workshop brought together about 15 young historians (aged between 25 and 35) for a period of 4 weeks, to share their experiences and get an opportunity to improve the theoretical and methodological quality of their work. It enabled historical researchers to interact with colleagues from abroad to discuss new theoretical and methodological approaches in Social History, as well as, their current work.
One of the main achievements of the workshop was to deal with academic career training – very practical questions on how to write an article and a review, how to plan a research project, and how to submit a research proposal for funding. The discussions were linked to the participant’s own work in progress.
In 2002, participants came from: Brazil, Trinidad & Tobago, Mexico, Kenya, India, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Senegal, South Africa, Chile, Cameroon, Indonesia and Costa Rica.
