Usually, the circulation of intellectuals and ideas is done unilaterally from the North to the South, with researchers from developed countries presenting their ideas and publications for audiences of researchers from the South. The reverse is quite unusual. Sephis Lecture Tours corresponds to one of the most successful initiatives to improve mobility of scholars and knowledge. Through Lecture Tours we intend to reverse the logic of asymmetries of international academia and to contribute for intellectuals of peripheral regions to have access to knowledge produced in other peripheries, strengthening networks for dialogue within the Global South. Since 1996, we promoted the circulation of important names of the humanities from the Global South to other continents and the tours usually took from four to six weeks. We financed the movement of 45 researchers from over 70 different countries, totalling 138 conferences. These lecture tours were published as booklets, translated into 7 languages.
